 We all have memorable firsts: our first kiss, first job, first car—the list goes on. For me, though, the most unforgettable first was my initial encounter with coffee. To be honest, it wasn't love at first sip. At the tender age of 12, after my father's bold declaration that I should "drink it right," I was met with a bitter cup of black coffee that I promptly spat out. It tasted like bargain-bin leftovers rather than the beloved brew adored by millions.

But this jarring introduction didn't deter my curiosity—quite the opposite. Funded by my modest soda-selling business (primarily to my siblings), I ventured to our local coffee shop for a second chance at coffee. That sip was a revelation. It was nothing short of incredible.

    Fast forward, and I found myself behind the same coffee shop's counter, falling in love with not just the rich aroma of fresh coffee but also with the fabric of our community woven through brief, genuine exchanges with customers. That coffee shop became more than a job; it was my passion.

     Years later, at 27, fueled by the unwavering spirit of my father—even in the twilight of his battle with stage 4 Lymphoma—and the support of friends and family, we laid the groundwork for what was once just a dream. Together, we brainstormed ideas for Blue Suede Brews Coffee, our aspirations growing with every old movie we watched and every late-night conversation we shared. My father's resilience and zest for life assured me that my dream was within reach.

     Blue Suede Brews is not just a purveyor of fresh coffee. It's a celebration of perseverance, love, passion, and community—a homage to the indomitable spirit my father embodied. Every batch I roast infuses the beans with the essence of his wisdom, making each cup more than just a beverage—it's a shared experience, a legacy, and a sip of a dream realized.
